PHIVOLCS raises alert status of Mayon Volcano to Level 3

In its 8pm bulletin on Dec. 14, 2009, PHIVOLCS (Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology) raised Mayon Volcano’s alert status from level 2 to level 3. This means that magma is close to the crater and hazardous explosive eruption is imminent. Mayon Volcano is located in the province of Albay in the Bicol Region.

CDRC and Alay Bayan Inc. distributed relief goods to the communities affected by Typhoon Pepeng (Parma) in Pangasinan. This was supported by German Humanitarian Aid and Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe. About 80% of Pangasinan was submerged in flood waters after Typhoon Pepeng battered Northern Luzon in October.

CDRC, together with the Cordillera Disaster Response and Development Services (CDRDS), distributed relief goods to the areas affected by Typhoon Pepeng in Benguet Province. This was supported by the German Humanitarian Aid and Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe. Benguet was one of the provinces hardest hit by the typhoon which caused massive landslides.
