CDRC conducted an Evacuation Center Management training for the Mayon evacuees in Albay with the help of its regional center Tarabang Para sa Bicol (TABI), and four Social Work students from Bicol University. Pamphlets of health and sanitation were distributed, and large murals on what to do during ash falls were mounted in strategic places in the affected communities. This was supported by Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe.

CDRC’s regional center, the Ilocos Center for Research, Empowerment and Development (ICRED), conducted relief delivery operations in the Ilocos Region. Psychosocial activities for the children were also held. This was supported by Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe and the German Humanitarian Aid.

Typhoon Parma (Pepeng) lashed the Philippines just eight days after Typhoon Ketsana (Ondoy) caused major flooding in the country. One of the most affected by Parma was the Ilocos Region. Fire razes Baseco compound; 1,000 families homeless

At least 1,000 families were left homeless after a fire razed down the Bataan Shipping and Engineering Company (Baseco) compound in Tondo, Manila at around 10 p.m., Saturday.
The fire spread quickly because the houses inside the 52-hectare Baseco compound were made of light materials and were built too close to each other.
