Lanao del Norte was not spared from the impact of flooding and landslides caused by incessant rains triggered by the northeast monsoon affecting Northern and Central Luzon, and the tail-end of a cold front affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. 1,516 families (7,103 persons) from 10 Barangays in Basilan Province are displaced due to an ongoing armed conflict that started January 17,2011, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
