Typhoon ‘Basyang’ death toll rises to 76

The death toll from the typhoon “Basyang” (international name Conson) has increased to 76, the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) said in its latest situation report.
Forty three of the deaths were from Southern Tagalog, followed by Central Luzon with 15 and Bicol region with 18. Seventy-two people remain missing, mostly from Bicol.

CDRC, through the generous support of the “Unity Concert 2009: Rebuilding People’s Lives”, distributed school supplies to the children affected by Typhoon Ondoy. The Unity Concert was a benefit concert organized by Filipinos in Toronto, Canada last December 13, 2009. Proceeds of the concert went to CDRC for relief and rehabilitation projects.

At least 4,000 families were left homelss Saturday after a fire raged for seven hours in Barangay Cupang, Muntinlupa City.
