12 August 2016 – Members of the Samahan ng Magsasaka at Mangingisda ng Nicholas (Association of Farmers and Fishermen of Nicholas) in Magsaysay town, province of Occidental Mindoro are joined by the Southern Tagalog People’s Response Center (STPRC) and action medeor project staff in manually transplanting different varieties of organic rice seedlings on a trial farm.

To cope with climate change, farmer technicians are being trained in growing resilient seeds that can withstand drought, flooding and saltwater intrusion and pests. Organic farming also makes use of organic materials which are environmentally and economically sustainable for the farmers.
