Andam Lahar: Anticipation for Lahar Risks Brgy. And Municipal Training by CDRC and TABI

Pursuant to the continuing effort of the consortium in raising awareness and preparedness of local government units, civil societies and other members of the served-communities, the consortium conducts a Brgy. and Municipal Training to the three project-areas to develop a lahar module which may be used as a guide of the different stakeholders to build preparedness plan, create a good evacuation process, and communication protocol inclusive to all vulnerable sectors of the community on July 9-11, 2019 at Sarung Banggi Beach Resort, Sto. Domingo, Albay.

Local government unit, civil societies, attached agencies, and Brgy. Councils are invited to participate in this activity and provided inputs on the existing protocols of their community in terms of raising awareness and preparedness for lahar risks. During the activity, they have presented their Early Warning System, evacuation plan, communication protocol and coordination with other agencies.

One of the highlights of the activity is the community sharing wherein they were able to share their past experiences on lahar and what actions they had made during that time.

An emphasis is also given on how to handle evacuation situations whereas persons with disabilities are involved and how do the local government, civil societies and other organizations take them in in DRR planning as part of vulnerable and least-served sector in the community.

In addition, to further enhance the capacity of the community on lahar risks, they drafted a contingency plan which may guide them on how to better prepare themselves and their families to the adverse effects of lahar to their communities.
